Origin Genomics
Developing therapeutic germline gene editing.
Origin Genomics develops precise gene editors to correct disease-causing mutations in human embryos, with the goal of preventing inherited disease for future generations.
The Technology
Precision Gene Editing
Many inherited diseases are caused by mutations in a single gene. Origin Genomics is developing precise base and prime editors to correct these mutations in human embryos.
- Base editing
- Precisely changes one DNA letter into another without cutting both strands of DNA.
- Prime editing
- Precisely rewrites short stretches of DNA, allowing individual letters to be changed, added, or removed without cutting both strands of DNA.
Precision Beyond the Edit
Correction alone is not enough. Origin evaluates editing efficiency, specificity, mosaicism, genomic integrity, and biological function to understand the complete effects of each edit.
Objective
Defining the Path to Clinical Translation
Origin Genomics is working to determine whether therapeutic germline gene editing can become sufficiently precise, predictable, and safe for future clinical use.
